With UGA Miracle celebrating 30 years of Dance Marathon, I wanted to highlight how the event has evolved over the past three decades--especially how it has grown more accessible. This story taught me how to research topics thoroughly before conducting interviews or writing a story to be a well-rounded reporter.

I wrote this story to give audiences a well-rounded perspective of the ways in which Mayor Girtz serves the city of Athens, and areas where his policies and approaches could improve. This story's newsworthiness comes from the fact that the seat for mayor is up for election this coming May and the four candidates who are running have varied methods of political action which differ from Mayor Girtz's.

I wrote this story to summarize the events that took place at the BOE's monthly October meeting. This story's newsworthiness derives from the fact that two of the BOE council members, Lakeisha Gantt and Tim Denson, are running for Athens mayor in the upcoming May election.

The foreign language of data and public records may be more familiar than it seems.
